Hammond is an active city of approximately 83,000. Hammond hosts one of the most successful summer music festivals in the Midwest, the Festival of the Lakes.  Recreation abounds with access to three lakes, Lake Michigan, Wolf Lake and George Lake.  Wolf lake is known for its wind surfing.
